23 November 2023 — In preparation for the upcoming COP28 and in remembrance of the 10th Anniversary of Super Typhoon Haiyan, Greenpeace Philippines, Climate Action and Human Rights Institute (CAHRI), Legal Rights and Natural Resources Center (LRC), and the House Committee on Climate Change chaired by Cong. Edgar M. Chatto, (representation of the 1st District of Bohol) hosted a hybrid roundtable discussion which aimed to bring forward the voices of communities, experts, and climate justice advocates in influencing climate policies for the future.
The CAHRI team wrote a Synthesis Report which summarizes the key discussion points from the roundtable discussions, including: the duty of states in protecting human rights, the role of National Human Rights Institutions in tackling the climate crisis, progress on climate-related legislation in the Philippines, and the aspirations for the upcoming COP28. Read the report below.
